Tandem fosters meaningful connections and collaborations by inspiring, supporting and equipping leaders to create a brighter future for all.

Tandem is a global executive leadership programme for professionals in the humanitarian and development sector. Managed by ODI, an independent, global affairs think tank that inspires people to act on injustice and inequality, the programme provides leaders with the resources and tools needed to tackle today’s most pressing challenges.

Through Tandem, you will embark on a learning journey relevant to your professional day-to-day, enabling you to become the leader you wish to be – better serving your team, your organisation, and the sector at large.

How does Tandem differ?

You will be supported by an executive coach who will provide you with 1:1 monthly coaching sessions.

The virtual component of Tandem complements the in-person Retreats.

Each month will probe a new theme with a weekly rhythm of actions to help you elevate your leadership style.

Tandem carves out in-person time for introspection and peer coaching, two aspects that Tandem participants especially appreciate. Focusing on your motivations as a leader and connecting with others in the sector, many of whom face similar problems, allows for a renewed sense of purpose.

If you’d like the opportunity to join us on our learning journey and connect with other senior leaders from the sector, complete an application today.

What Leaders Are Saying

"Over the past six months, I’ve engaged in intense and interesting learning and collaboration with peers and gained valuable insights from subject matter experts and executive coaching. From grounding in wellbeing and resilience, to investigating power, positionality and trust building, to exploring decolonized leadership, influencing without authority, to leading and managing change and much more, this journey has been nothing short of amazing. It has been an honour to connect with global leaders from other international NGOs, national NGOs and the UN. Working alongside the outstanding teams from ODI has been a privilege. I am excited to apply these insights not only within my organization but also across the sector."

" I am deeply grateful for this opportunity and I feel inspired to apply what I have learnt in order to contribute to new ways of working and greater collaboration for more inclusive, impactful and sustainable programmes that are resilient and agile to respond to the volatile and extremely complex environments in which we are working. "

" The course empowered us with important tools, skills and knowledge. The mixed learning approached including self learning, peer learnings, expert sessions and executive coaches enabled a wholistic and well-defined process for learning. The push for self-reflection, vulnerability and acceptance cemented the power of self-awareness in our complex world. "

" I was so privileged and honoured to work with 30 leaders who are impacting the world positively every single day. This cohort was extremely special; Their willingness to learn, humility and thirst for growth was phenomenal. Proud to be part of the Tandem Community. "
